Transformational Change

Many organizations are ready to move forward with deeper transformational change with the work that they do with children and families. For those organizations, we offer more intentional work that takes place over the course of a year. This transformational process includes two key components: (1) a series of four trainings and (2) ongoing consultation.

Trainings

All staff within the organization take part in the Introductory Training, Historical Trauma Training, and Creating a Culture of Workplace Equity Training (see Professional Development for more information). A Leadership Team (comprised of organizations leaders, senior staff, junior staff, families most affected by inequities) take part in the Systems Change Training.

This 3-hour training helps organizations use an Appreciative Inquiry Framework to advance transformational change. This approach builds upon current strengths, identifies barriers to change, and centers the voices of those most affected by current inequities (e.g., families, community members).

Ongoing Consultation

Following the four foundational trainings, Educational Equity Institute staff facilitate monthly consultation sessions (approximately 9 session) with the Leadership Team. During these sessions, EEI staff help the Leadership Team develop authentic relationships with one another, which are foundational to equity work.

In addition, EEI staff guide the Leadership Team through the Appreciative Inquiry Approach to identify strengths, barriers, and short-, mid-, and long-term goals for the organization that are focused on eliminating inequities and promoting better outcomes for children and families.
