In-Person Trainings

The pandemic allowed us to begin offering our in-person trainings virtually. These include our Introductory Training, Historical Trauma, Culturally Responsive Anti-Bias Practices, Culturally Responsive Family Engagement, and Creating a Culture of Workplace Equity.

We realize the value of in-person trainings; however, we have designed our virtual trainings so that they mimic the experience of live settings. Our virtual and in-person trainings include opportunities for both large group discussion, as well as small group work. With many of our trainings, we include follow-up consultation to help organizations translate what they have learned into practice.

Introductory Training

We provide a brave space for learning about and discussing difficult topics related to racism in the United States. This training is full day 6-hour training but can be broken up into two 3-hour chunks if that is logistically better for organizations. Because of the heaviness of the content, we provide follow-up processing sessions, both separate and collective.

We believe that White and BIPOC need separate spaces to process the information before engaging collectively. During the Collective Processing sessions, participants work to identify ways to move forward together to achieve equity and justice in their organizations and communities.

As an added service, we offer three follow-up consultation sessions to help organizations translate what they have learned into practice.

A paradigm shift is needed within communities before true equity work can begin.
Relationships and community engagement are critical for meaningful change.

Historical Trauma Training

The purpose of this 5-hour workshop is to provide an overview of both historical and current day racial trauma. The presenters will provide an in-depth discussion about specific experiences that are shared by entire communities and that can result in cumulative emotional and psychological wounds that are carried across generations.

Culturally Responsive Anti-Bias Practices

Our culturally responsive anti-bias practices training provides educators and administrators with concrete strategies that can be used within early learning environments that can be used to promote positive identity development, improve teacher-child relationships, expand instructional practices, and promote better engagement with families. This 4-hour training is followed by three consultation sessions to facilitate a change in practices.

Culturally Responsive Family Engagement

This training focuses on providing educators with information and strategies that can be used to build authentic relationships with families from a variety of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This 3-hour training helps educators better understand the reasons why some families have had difficulty engaging in the current educational system. The goal of this training is to alter current family engagement practices to be more inclusive of all families.

Creating a Culture of Workplace Equity

This 2-hour training helps organizations examine current workplace practices that inhibit true inclusivity. Participants learn key strategies for promoting more authentic relationships with one another and reflect on ways their organization can promote equity within the workplace. This training is followed by two follow-up consultation sessions.

SOME OF OUR

Testimonials

“The presenters were so knowledgeable and acknowledged that the content could be uncomfortable when talking about racism. I found the content to be very accessible.”

“It was intense, positive, but introspective work. I felt at once validated, challenged, and encouraged by the topics that were raised and hearing my coworkers’ opinions and experiences. It gave me great hope that we can indeed break down some of the barriers that keep us from speaking openly, honestly and from the same page about issues of racial justice in the workplace, not only for coworkers and ourselves but for the families and providers who use our services as well.”

“It had good definitions of common terms, was not off-putting and invited us to create a safe, non-threatening and non-judgmental space to speak freely about our experiences.”
